We hope everyone will have a wonderful Valentines.

Educational Advancement Chairman Kristina Guinn had a wonderful chapter activity night.  She had to work so protem Polly Dixon took over the program.  Thank you to everyone who helped Kristina.

The last weekend of the month was full of WOTM fun.  On Friday, January 27, we had our annual Penny Social.  Everyone had dinner in the social quarters and then brought their pennies to the ballroom for fun.  As usual the children had fun and we went home with many things.  On Saturday night January 28, we had the Hobo dinner and dance chaired by Family Involvement Chairman Gayle Joyce.  We swayed to the music of Southland.  Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the soup and sandwiches.  Thank you for your donations to the food bank.  And don’t forget the boxes in Moose Lane, we will be collecting for the foodbank until the end of February.  Thanks to the Community Services Committee.

For those members going to the MLC Hampton weekend, please support the Valentine basket that Brenda Stone is raffling.  The proceeds from the basket will go to the kidney foundation and the Virginia wounded warriors.  On Saturday, February 18, Community Service Chairman Cindy Pal more will have the Sweetheart dinner and dance.  The band will be Still Kicking’.  The drawing for the Game 5 Sweetheart basket will happen at the dance.   Come and bring your sweetheart!  Some of the past Kings and Queens will be there.  On February 21, we will begin the raffle for a $100 Visa card.  Youth Involvement Chairman Myra Graves and her committee will be selling tickets.  The drawing will take place at the end of the year dinner.

During February, the board of officers, 5 past regents and 5 co-workers will be meeting to fill the slate of officers for the next year (beginning May 1, 2012).  There are many members who have some great ideas.  Consideration will be given to an individual’s qualifications, leadership ability and willingness to contribute her time and effort to the best interest of the chapter.  Read the responsibility of each office in the WOTM General Laws, pages 24-32.  Please consider serving your chapter – we need you!

Congratulations to Ann Kupesky for attending four consecutive meetings.  She received a WOTM pin and free pass to a WOTM dinner dance

The winners of our attendance awards were Dot Biller and Betty Miller.  The door prize winners were Ruth Lipford and Ann Kupesky.  Our member attendance award was drawn and Terry Barnes was not present BUT at our January 3 meeting Dot Biller won $50 for being present.

Happy Birthday to all those born in February and to all those celebrating their anniversary in February.

Remember lets go forth with kind thoughts, helpful words and good deeds.  Thank you sponsors for inviting your friends to join our defending circle.
